Vergini Giurate
Il gruppo di opere Vergine Giurata #1. #2, #3 e #4, nasce da un ritrovamento casuale: un libretto raccolto in un parco, contenente ritratti di figure dalle sembianze maschili. Si tratta di tobelije, vergini giurate, donne di varie regioni balcaniche che si impegnavano a mantenere la verginità per sottrarsi a matrimoni imposti e alla condizione stessa di spose. Le immagini trovate divengono installazioni in cui semi, simboli di fertilità, vengono inesorabilmente bloccati in uno stato di inerzia. Il gruppo di opere evoca la radicalità della scelta di queste donne, denunciando al contempo il cortocircuito tra natura e cultura che una società patriarcale può generare.

[ENG] The group of works Virgin Sworn # 1. # 2, # 3 and # 4, was born from a booklet found in a park, containing portraits of figures with male features. They are tobelijes, or sworn virgins, women from various Balkan regions who undertook to keep their virginity in order to avoid forced marriages or the very condition of wives. The images become installations in which seeds, symbols of fertility, are inexorably frozen in a state of inertia. The group of works evokes the radicalism of the choice of these women, while denouncing the conflict between nature and culture that a patriarchal society can generate.
